Symphoniq Launches TrueView .NET Diagnostics to Provide End-to-End Performance Management for .NET Applications; Customers Use Tool to Pinpoint and Diagnose Elusive Problems in Less Than 15 Minutes

Microsoft Management Summit 2006
Booth #362

San Diego, CA, April 25, 2006 — Symphoniq® Corporation, which is exhibiting this week at the Microsoft Management Summit 2006 at the San Diego Convention Center (Booth #362), today announced the general release of TrueView(TM) .NET Diagnostics, a new addition to the TrueView End-to-End Web Performance Management Suite. This new product makes it faster and easier to manage applications built on the Microsoft .NET platform. It monitors every user transaction, and automatically records which infrastructure element was responsible for any performance problems.

Application frameworks such as .NET help developers write and deploy new applications faster to keep up with business demands, but as many organizations are starting to discover, this surge of new apps creates new management challenges. The complexity of Web infrastructure can hide the source of problems and make them almost impossible to find. TrueView .NET Diagnostics simplifies this complexity by tracing each transaction from the user's Web browser, through the network, Web server, and .NET application framework, to the database tier. This end-to-end perspective lets a single IT administrator diagnose problems in minutes, rather than forcing a cross-disciplinary triage team to spend days troubleshooting all the different components.

Symphoniq customer Milliman, Inc., used TrueView .NET Diagnostics to detect the exact method call that had been causing application problems for an entire year. "Within 15 minutes of deploying TrueView, I was able to drill down and identify the exact issue, down to a single method call," said Ryan Miller, Systems Administrator for Milliman. "We got farther in 48 hours than we had in a year. Plus, there's no negative impact on performance, which is vital in a production environment."

Milliman chose Symphoniq TrueView for its ease of deployment, ease of use and configuration, real transaction monitoring, and rich reporting capabilities. The other tools it considered did not provide the needed .NET details such as full method call traces and lacked the ability to pinpoint specific performance and availability issues. For more on how TrueView helped Milliman deliver better client satisfaction, see the accompanying case study release.

TrueView .NET Diagnostics works seamlessly with Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 (MOM), allowing MOM 2005 administrators to monitor the performance of individual users and transactions from Internet Explorer through IIS and the .NET framework to SQL Server 2005, and to understand how each component contributes to the overall end-user response time.

As a Microsoft Gold Partner, Symphoniq has proven experience creating solutions for Microsoft customers.

"This end-to-end management solution for .NET applications works in concert with MOM 2005 to make .NET the ideal framework for robust, enterprise-grade applications," said Nicolas Kardas, Director of Business Development in the Emerging Business Team for Microsoft Corporation. "We welcome Symphoniq's contribution to helping Microsoft customers get the most out of their applications."

TrueView .NET Diagnostics can manage any applications built on the .NET framework including Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server, Commerce Server, BizTalk Server, and Content Management Server.
